Hugo Goal Review
Football and betting have been associated with each other for quite some time. It was in the 1990s, with the rise of high street betting shops, that bettors decided that to make football matches more interesting by betting on the outcomes, next goalscorer, or the total number of goals. Since then, betting on Football has become a multi-billion € industry.
Play ‘N Go has decided to cash in on this popularity and given us the Hugo Goal slot game. They have given it their own special tweaks, however, making the character a lovable troll. It is the third sequel to Hugo and Hugo 2, and like those games, the character of Hugo, as well as the background and symbol, have been incredibly well designed.
Looking good is only part of it, however, so in this Hugo Goal review, we’ll investigate if the game is fun to play, what the return to player rate is, and if the bonus features make us want to celebrate or hang our heads in shame.
Play ‘N Go has kept it incredibly simple with the Hugo Goal slot game, as it only has three rows and three reels, making it feel like a slot from the time where you found the machines with cherries and gold bars in actual Casinos. There are five fixed paylines, and players will need to adjust the coin value & number of coins they wish to bet with, before starting off.
The symbols have been designed with the football theme in mind, with some of the ones you’ll be hoping to land are the stopwatch, a whistle, the corner flags or a football. Then, some of Hugo’s friends will also appear on the reels, such as Don Croco, Afskylia and the Goat.
Hugo Goal Free Play
If you aren’t yet convinced to lace up your boots and deposit any of your own money, then not to worry. There is a Hugo Goal free play version of the slot, so players can get some practice in before trying the real thing.
This part of the Hugo Goal review will now cover some of the feature bonuses on offer here. Hugo is the Wild symbol and will substitute out regular symbols to help make winning combinations.
On any non-winning spins, if you have stacked symbols of any of Hugo’s friends, you get a respin on the third reel. This will continue to respin until it makes a winning combination. It is known as the Action Replay.
The free-kick feature is similar, in that it awards players an extra free spin when they have stacked symbols on two of the three reels.
The Penalty Shoot-Out bonus is triggered if all of the places on the reel are filled with the same symbol. Players will then have five opportunities to help Hugo make penalty saves, by clicking where you think the ball will go. Each one you guess right will increase a multiplier, which is worth X10 if you guess all of them correctly.
The RTP for the Hugo Goal slot game is 96.49%
Our verdict is that Hugo Goal is great fun, with some interesting bonus features that can lead to some top wins.
