Taking on an Asian theme can prove to be a rather successful tactic for game developers as it has proven to be incredibly popular in the past.
Indeed, the Imperial Riches slot game is certainly inspired by an oriental theme, however NetEnt have decided to use Japan rather than China for their source of inspiration.
We were delighted when doing our Imperial Riches game review to find that they had decided to look at a different part of Asian culture and we were as equally impressed when we tested out the game as we found that it was truly breathtaking and one that will provide players with plenty of enjoyable moments!
Gameplay
Players might be able to test out an Imperial Riches Free Play version on our page, however they should look to play for real money as soon as possible! The slot game features five reels and three rows and has 15 fixed paylines available to form winning combinations.
Spins can be started from €0.15 and are available for bets as high as €30, which may disappoint those hi-rollers, however the wins that can be generated are still worthy of the lowish betting values. Players are able to place the maximum bet via a single click of the ‘Max Bet’ button at the bottom of the grid, whilst there is the ‘Autoplay’ feature available as well for those who want to enjoy the breathtaking Japanese background.
The paytable has a number of Japanese-based icons available for players to try and form wins from, although the traditional royal playing card symbols continue to make an appearance. Indeed, they are worth the lowest payouts and are represented by the blue Q, the green K, and the red A.
Following those are the medium-value icons with the bamboo plant, the golden coins and the golden ingots. The golden koi fish is worth the most, though, as this will pay rewards of 1,500x the bet when five of them appear on a payline!
Feature Bonuses
The first of the Imperial Riches bonus features noticeable in this slot game is NetEnt’s Avalanche feature. This operates in the same way a cascading reels feature works. Winning combinations will disappear when they are formed and will make room for any potential new combinations to appear.
The red lantern symbols that can appear in the base game are the Imperial Riches slot game Scatter icons. These have the ability to activate the Free Spins feature. Three appearing on the five reels will provide players with 10, whilst four and five of them will award 15 and 20 respectively. During this feature, all wins will be counted as jewels, which will then be used in the Lucky Pond Bonus game when unlocked.
Fish Bonuses
When the game is triggered, the jewels will be eaten by either a Coin Fish or a Bonus Fish. The Coin Fish will provide players with rewards of up to 15x, whereas the Bonus Fish will see the Jackpot game feature activated. If this game is activated, players will have the chance to win one of five potential jackpots that are available.
If a Coin Fish eats a jewel in the Jackpot Game, players are able to achieve rewards of up to 40x their bet. However, players will ultimately want the Jackpot Fish to eat their jewels, as these creatures will provide players with the opportunity to win either one of the three progressive jackpots or one of the two fixed jackpots on offer. These can only be won when three of the jewels are eaten, though!
RTP (return to player)
The return to player (RTP) rate currently stands at 96.88% and due to its level of medium volatility, wins can be rather frequent which was a huge bonus when doing our Imperial Riches review!
